In 2020, we received the commission to further develop the design for the main entrance pavilion of the Fuzhou Rongqiao·Wai Tan Yi Hao residential area—a highly challenging task that called for a “large perforated and partially hyperbolic” structure with a “large-span cantilever that must be lightweight.”
Through design optimization and precise calculations, we concealed the load-bearing system within the hollow decorative panels, and reduced approximately one-third of material consumption and weight. This eliminated the visibility of the exposed truss structure, enhancing the hollow effect and aesthetics.
In the area of drainage, we have modeled a gentle arch similar to a natural hill, enabling rainwater to flow outwards as if it were falling on a mound, using the smallest visual height difference and the least deformation of glass to achieve the maximum drainage slope. Additionally, we have batch processed the length sequence of each support rod in the digital program to realize such precise arching.
